Mushroom Kingdom

This was a tourist stop to showcase local farm produce, notably mushrooms, which this region is well known for.

However, the first display we saw was this, of souvenier items featuring owls which I guess must be useful in the area for some reason or other.

Saw this when we came out from the spot behind the display.














More owls and other critters in the form of hanging decorations, shoe horns, fridge magnets, keyrings, etc.











As in fast food establishments in other countries, the menu is on the wall (above left), but, in Japan, you don't place your order with a cashier at the counter. Instead you insert money into a machine to buy a ticket of your choice of food item which you hand to the counter girl who tears it and marks your half of the ticket with a number and you wait for it to be called.

So of course we sat right in front of her as we didn't understand Japanese numbers when called. We just waved our ticket halves whenever a number was called, and she got the picture. Fun.



This Mushroom Kingdom was very well stocked and was an excellent stop.

Bears thought so too, from the evidence of their footprints on the entrance steps!
