Sangaitaki Falls

Sangaitaki (three levels) Falls is so named as it cascades down, yes, three levels.

Cool design, this bollard, no?

They must have lost a few as souveniers!

Here's a shot of the Falls and its three cascade levels (left). The photos do not do justice to the real thing.

This is the stream just before the water falls. It's shallow and slow-moving, and together with the gradual concrete steps along the bank, encourage wading.

A few steps away was this little trickle of a spring which was described to be good for your skin, health and reproductive capability.

Meng advised that we "ta-pauh" some water!

Another few kilometres away was this interesting stop. It was another shallow stream; but the more interesting feature was this roofed foot soak in front of an onsen hotel. The water was scalding hot out of the ground. The soak drain dropped three levels, cooling the water; and you chose whichever level (and temperature) you were comforatable with.

The onsen even provided clean towels at no charge!

Level two ie one down from the top was best though your feet came out all pink and cooked!
