Here's how things went

We split up from the FlyDrive tour group at Haneeda Airport in the main island of Honshu after arriving from Hokkaido's Chitose Airport. We took a Friendly Airport Limousine Bus to our hotel in Shinjuku. If I recall, 4 others also extended their stay in Tokyo.

The rest of the tour group bussed over to the Narita International Airport for their flight back to Singapore.

We took leave of the best 3 tour hosts we've ever had the opportunity to meet. They were mother-hens and guardian angels and good friends.

Thank you, Lance, Yuki and Meng.

Checked in at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Shinjuku which was the last stop along this particular Friendly Airport Limousine's route.

That's Red no.5 in the sketch map below.

Straight off after checking-in, we went to the Shinjuku Station to look for the express bus companies for tickets to Mt Fuji. Staff at a bus kiosk in the Station informed that we should go round the corner for the express bus ticket office.

Saw lots of people obviously waiting for buses; and found the little door to the Keio Highway Bus ticket office on the floor above. It's opposite the Yodobashi Camera departmental store. Here's more on its location.

Here's the door, and beside it on the wall is a very conspicuous electronic board showing details of bus departure times. Fortunately the text was in Japanese AND English. It switches between the two languages.

Had to get a queue number from a dispenser, wondered aloud on how'll we know if our number's called? whereupon a kind lady said that it'll be shown on the electronic screen which was on the clerk's desk and obscured by her.

She and her partner were from HongKong and they helped us fill up form (in Chinese) for return tickets to MtF. They would be doing a climb-as-far-as-they-could expedition the next day.

However, as there were no more bus tickets for the next day, we had to do our thing on the day after ie on 3Aug.

The Shinjuku Station shown in grey in the sketch map doesn't seem much other than that it's bigger than the surrounding buildings.

But beware! it's huuuge! I understand that it's the station in Tokyo with the highest commuter throughput of 2 million a day flowing through its 66 entrances and exits.

For us, it was the West Entrance that matters for 2 days, and then the South Entrance for the next 2 days in view of our hotel accomodations at nos. 5 and 7 on the sketch map.

Here's more on How to get to Mt Fuji
