Day 6/8 - Freycinet, Tasmania (east)

The Freycinet National Park was one of the best stops on our Tassie trip. It is on the east coast of Tasmania about midway between Launceston in the north and Hobart to the south. Very unspoilt and prestine , and few signs of exploitation like quarrying or mining or logging or even agricultural cultivation. If you ever visit Tasmania, you MUST visit this park. And you MUST visit the website too as it has loads of info besides being very well designed.

Admission charges apply, so it was a good thing a National Parks Pass was included for $50 in our tour package which gave us vehicle and up to 8 passengers entry to all Tass National Parks.

The Visitor Centre is worth a drop-in. Besides the loads of information and exhibits, we found some intersting items as shown in the photographs. Those tree trunk handrails are made of concrete.

Penny's with a Wombat. The other native is a XXXX (click on photo to enlarge and see its name!). Click here for more info about the
XXXX.

There were seals on that island, and the photo below right is a 'stright down' view from the walkway. Forgot the name of this lookout point but will come and update if I remember it. The drive up was along a steeep narrow road, but worth it.
