Not a big deal, we discovered. I believe it was some marshland estuary tidied up by civil engineers, and you can guess what you'll get. All stright lines and flatness. The buildings were impressive in design however and that compensates for lack of an interesting topography and lack of a unified theme, in my opinion.
We did the advised best way to see Odaiba ie get to the nearest station outside and switch to the Odaiba's own driverless monorail. Front seats were best.
This was the Rainbow Bridge. No resemblance whatever to a rainbow except perhaps in its graceful lines.
The planned city has towering blocks of apartments and massive buildings holding shopping centres and government and private offices. And entertainment complexes, one of which had this huge ferris wheel. Come to think of it, we saw quite a few ferris wheels in many cities.
The old-time themed shopping floor in one of the mega-buildings was very good. So much to see and re-appreciate.
There were very well done themed restaurants too. The fountain was in a European area and in the red photo, Penny's paying for the dinner we had in a Chinese restaurant. It was upstairs and the stairs and pathways were really well done. Just like in an old Chinatown. The service was as always in Japanese establishments, excellent.
We popped into a car museum. That's a Mazda, a BMW and a Caddy. The photos are terrible as I forgot to test the settings for the low lighting in most of the indoor areas. There was a Toyota centre where you can ride cars, check out latest models, etc. The F1 Race simulator was 7 minutes of fun. Wife had eyes closed for 6 minutes.
This is a parting shot taken while our monorail was going through the Rainbow Bridge as we left Odaiba.
There'll be more to see when you get there as construction of buildings was going on everywhere there.
