Hachiko in SHIBUYA

We read of this memorial statue of a loyal dog named Hachiko. Had to visit it as we love dogs and cats. It was in Shibuya. I won't tell you which train(s) we took as I've forgotten and even if I look up my tatterred Tokyo map, and I just did, I'll not understand the ballpoint-circled Stations as then I'll have to look up a bag of brochures and notes to check out the dates-visited-where, blah blah .... you know what I mean. So please excuse.

Luckily for us it was late and getting dark and we got out of Shibuya (I think) Station (take the Hachiko exit, of course) it was already night and the lights had come on. And what a never-will-forget sight it was; all neon lights, giant tv screens on many buildings, moving, colourful, glitzy, attractive. This was the scene you see most times on your home tv whenever they show news about Japan.



That is, if you're lucky enough to be able to push out of the station and put feet down on the street sidewalk and make your way to the plaza a few steps away. Anyhow, it was fun and exciting. And, nobody was moving ! Everyone was standing around, hanging around, milling around, snapping photos, talking in groups, like Orchard Road in Singapore on weekends.

We found Hachiko. He had a banner on, in Japanese beyond our ken.





A pop group showing their prowess to promote their Show at some other venue in the next few days.



The story of Hachiko is quite like that of Scotland's Greyfriars Bobby .
