So here we are at the world famous West Lake. Right in town, which is good if you are on a packed trip. The shot above was taken from our bus and the Lake is right there just off the roadside footpath. As usual, everyone else in China seemed to be there. It was that crowded!
Went on the "cruise" which wasn't much other than a chug out for a ten minute float so that tourists can take photos with the lakeside scenery for background. Sit outside where it's cooler and less stuffy than inside the cabin.
The golden dragon cruise barge is for the use of Government Officials. The cheaper rides were on tiny boats that didn't seem comfortable or safe (last shot above).
Here's us on the outside stern seats. That's Wife, Sister and guide Fanny.
There were some pretty good walks in the parkland environments around the Lake. All very well maintained and litter-free.
Nice walkway engravings all over the park, like that above. And here's a close-up below of a taukwah slab on a stick. Tasted horrible, but we had to try it, of course. Don't get one each in your group; one for 20 persons to try will be just right!
And, lastly, check out the hand warming gloved handles on the scooter above. Many motor bikes have these fitted on them.
