Kanazawa Station

Ended Day 6 of the tour at Holiday Inn Kanazawa . The room we had was clean, decent and comfortable but nothing to shout about. It was however very conveniently located next door to the very new and impressive Kanazawa Station where there was a super duper shopping mall and food court with numerous restaurants.

We forgot to buy a wind-chime souvenier from Shirakawago but were fortunate enough to find it being sold here. There is a very good ramen shop opposite the MacDonald's and there was a Fujifilm photoshop whose owner very kindly charged some of my rechargeable AA batteries for a small fee.

That yellow line on the ground in the third photo above is made of tiles with flat circular protruberances (like thick large coins). It is for guiding the blind.

We were much impressed with the station plaza digital clock fountain and couldn't help but take a number of shots. The roadside 'face' gave the time while the opposite side or 'face' produced words.

And that wooden entrance portal was nothing short of awesome. Such a simple strong design.

Commuters waiting for buses do so in an 'outer' ring separated from the buses and their exhaust fumes by a wall of sheet plate glass. See that yellow guideline for the unsighted ?
