Harajuku cos-play

We passed this carpark entrance/exit on this road I think it was called Omote Sando or something like that in Harajuku on our way to a little space slightly bogger than a tennis court at the end of the road to visit the young Japanese ladies who dress up in outlandish costumes and parade to the delight and amazement of tourists. Tourist books say they do the cos-play to destress, which makes me wonder why there aren't any young Japanese men there amongst them .... Aren't young Japanese men similarly stressed?

Anyhow, back to the carpark entrance/exit. There were 3 - 4 men and women all smartly uniformed, and white gloved, blowing whistles and waving and all, controlling road traffic and pedestrian traffic whenever a vehicle gets in or out of the carparks. It was very politely executed and apologies and bowing with gratitude each time. Wonderful!

Anyhow, back to this Omote Sando street. It's nice and wide like Orchard Road in Singapore, with good and beautiful street furniture that's well maintained in good and clean condition. The streetside greenery is also in equally good condition. I especially liked the railings-cum-benchseats. They were good and strong and good looking. And at the plaza areas, they used this design in the tree guards.

It was a hot day but those cos-play gals carried on. Many were very accomodating to tourists asking to be photographed with them. It was like a party where they all dressed up to show each other their beautiful closthes and made up faces. And became internationally renowned. Only on Sundays. And only at this location.

Beg your pardon re my earlier comment on lack of Japanese young men in cos-play. There was a male 'statue'. However, is playing 'statue' cos-play? And perhaps it's a girl for all we know.

Three of the young ladies were Caucasians. I had to get a shot of Wife with one of them.

And, ah, there were lots of little interesting shops on the side roads off the main road.
